If you want, you can have some of mine. [ he offers up a partially used tube of burn cream to her. ]

[she turns as he offers, and her eyes are red around the edges, but she does nod. her emotions are just kind of numb.]

[ He examines the redness of her eyes, feeling a little like he's intruding on something personal for having seen it.

He hands her the tube of burn cream and then chews on his words for a minute. Then: ]

...I'm sorry.

[she takes the tube, but after a moment of surprise:]

...You did not do anything.

Well...no, but still. It sucks having to go through that, especially with someone you care about.

...I guess that's what I didn't do: I couldn't stop it before getting this bad.

[she shakes her head, at that, though her emotions grow tighter as she thinks about that.]

Nobody was able to stop it, not even me.

...I know. I wish there was something we could do before it gets to the point of catching a killer.

...there'll be a way to fix this. We just have to find it.

Maybe we can even, I dunno, reverse it or something. Bring them back.

[she says that, but she's very cynical by nature, so.]

Maybe not. But is it any more impossible than anything else we've seen here?

[she has absolutely no basis for this.]

But we are gonna find a way to fix this. Somehow.

[which isn't meant to indicate either trust or distrust, because she doesn't know what to think, but... she doesn't think danny is careless enough to give her this kind of hope without anything to back it up, either.]

Well, it said a bunch of stuff, but uh...

[ Danny pulls out his phone, looking up the picture he took of it ]

"I may no longer exist on that side, but I'm free", "you shine more brightly than you think," "we receive what's left", "don't let me down", "i'll really kill you", and "I'm gonna beat his"...uh, butt.

...It could have been Dreamer. They leave us messages sometimes, don't they?

Some of it, maybe. But, come on. We all know how Dreamer writes. You really think they'd say they're gonna beat someone's butt?
